Ahhhhh Fall! My favorite time of the year. Cool crisp air, clear blue skies, and the beautiful changing colors of the leaves. Not to mention all the delicious things to eat! When you think of Fall what foods come to mind? Pumpkin Pie? Rich Stews?
Eating seasonally can broaden your horizons! Just because we can find every fruit and vegetable in the grocery store anytime of the year doesn’t mean it is in season. Eating the fruits and vegetables that are in season often taste the best. Whether you have a local farmers or just your everyday grocery store, it is always good to know whats in season!
Here is a list of some fruits and veggies that are best in the Fall
Sautéed in a pan, roasted in the oven, or added to your favorite soups and stews, most of these vegetables will make a fantastic addition to your recipes! Or try something new. Maybe you don’t often cook with turnips or eggplant. I love cutting up a mixture of vegetables then simply tossing with with some salt, pepper and mixed herbs, and roasting them in the oven at 350℉ for about 40-50 minutes (stir them half way through for even browning). Easy and delicious! Apple tarts and pear tarts are always a yummy treat, but how about a fig tart? Maybe you should give it a try.
